Zodiaks landing at Base Y, a British research station established on Horseshoe Island in 1955 Relics of the research station Inside the research station. The station and nearby refuge hut remain almost unaltered from their active days. Scientists studied geology and meterology and conducted topographical surveys. The station housed up to 10 people. What's the green? Copper leaching out of the rock.
